Alinta Energy Port Hedland Power StationScope of Work

Completion: July 2018
Type of Contract: Lump Sum
Contract Value: $1, 350,000
Global Testing Services were engaged to carry out engineering support, procurement and supply of equipment, inspection, testing, commissioning and handover for the design of a digitally enhanced protection scheme for two 66kV transmission lines which run from Alinta Energy’s PHPS switchyard to Horizon Power’s Wedgefield and Murdoch Drive substations.
A number of challenges were encountered with the works on this project. These ranged from an extremely tight time frame, to delays with access, design issues and fractious relationships between the client and the network operator. Also, this period proved to be very busy for GTS so there were internal pressures around resources. None of these challenges delayed the project with final commissioning being completed on time.
“I would like to thank and congratulate GTS on the efforts for the safe and reliable energisation of the line this evening. Greg and Steve provided full competency for the testing conducted in very challenging situations. I appreciate the efforts and patience in this process.”
“This has been a combined effort with Henry, Gary S, Gary T and Wayne carrying out much of the installation works. Steve Turner and Greg Godfrey were terrific in driving this to the end with the target date met. It cannot be overstated the sheer quantity of roadblocks, hurdles and hoops that were negotiated to achieve this exceptional result.”
All works were conducted without safety or environmental incident.
