Gideon is our GTS Bunbury Manager with responsibility for the Bunbury transformer branch, including 14 staff made up of 10 specialist technicians and four administrative staff.

GTS’s Bunbury transformer branch has a strong focus on transformer maintenance and repairs, and Gideon is successfully building our team’s transformer expertise and capacity to take on jobs of any size and complexity.

He takes pride in his ability to adapt to the constant changes in the power industry and being able to meet challenging deadlines on time, without incident.

Gideon has 30 years of experience as an electrician in the mining, utility services and power industry. He owned a transformer and electric motor maintenance and repair workshop for 12 years before joining a utility looking after the 132kV and 11 kV networks. For the past 10 years, he has worked in the power industry serving a vast client base in Western Australia.

After hours, Gideon enjoys spending time with his family, fishing and other outdoor pursuits.
 

Kerri is our HR Manager and chief people person at GTS, looking after HR issues such as recruitment and performance. She has been instrumental in developing policies and procedures for Quality certification. As one of GTS’s longest serving employees, she is also the go-to person for anything that requires a long corporate memory.

Kerri started with GTS over 20 years ago and her first desk was the boss’s dining table. Since then she has performed many different roles in the company from financial controller to delivering test gear to the airport.

Outside of work, Kerri is passionate about horses. She owns four horses, competes in dressage and is a dressage judge.

Usman is a certified Member of Engineer Australia and is also a registered member of both the Saudi and Pakistan Engineering Councils. Usman has extensive hands on experience in all areas of testing and has been in the industry for over 7 years.

Usman has worked around the world, including USA, the Middle East and North Africa regions.

Outside of work Usman is an avid sports lover, and plays cricket and badminton when he can. He also loves travelling, reading and spending time with family and friends.

As a Field Services Technician at GTS, Arthur plays a key role in the areas of high voltage testing and fault finding, HV maintenance, installation and commissioning.

In addition to his A-Grade Electrical Licence, Arthur has completed training in HV switching, thermographics and advanced first aid, and holds a White Card and Blue Card.
 
Arthur has over 30 years of experience in the electrical industry. While at GTS, he has been involved in projects for the Water Corporation, Solomon Mine, Rio Tinto, Pilbara Iron, BHP and CBH, and has worked on ships and oil rigs.
 
After hours, Arthur enjoys piloting small aircraft, fishing and target shooting.
 

Clinton is an experienced electrical commissioning and construction supervisor, from very large to very small projects.

Clinton has been in the electrical industry for over 18 years. Clinton has spent the majority of his time working for a single contractor and learning from the ground up how to properly construct and commission facilities of various types.

Clinton joined GTS in 2018 as one of our Newman Supervisors and brings with him experience, knowledge and efficiency. 
 

Frances is involved in testing and commissioning works on sites in the mining, and oil and gas sectors.

An important part of the role is liaison with each client to properly understand and address their needs and requirements before putting forward recommendations and quotations.

Prior to joining GTS, Frances accrued more than 10 years of international experience as an HV specialist at both the technical and management level including seven years in the mining industry working on testing and pre-commissioning.

Weekends are family time for Frances who enjoys spending time with his kids playing basketball, going camping and being involved in his local church.

As our Workshop Manager, Steve oversees all the jobs that come through the GTS Canning Vale workshop. He ensures the correct test equipment is sent to site on time for each job and is in charge of test equipment rental. 

His ability to get things done makes him the go-to man for many ad hoc projects such as building the mobile testing van.

Prior to joining GTS, Steve was Assistant Engineer at the Hyatt Regency Hotel Perth then ran his own business carrying out thermographic inspections for the commercial, mining, oil and gas sectors. GTS purchased the thermographics business in 2009.

During his leisure time, Steve enjoys reading, renovating and catching up with family and friends.

Jonel worked in the Philippines up to 2010, where he received his Bachelors in Electrical Engineering. After his move to Australia, he began he career at Plummers Industries before eventually settling at GTS in 2016. Jonel has since become one of our highly skilled technicians. His drive for excellence is admirable, and has resulted in Jonel extending his knowledge by registering as an electrical apprentice as an adult. Jonel is due to complete his apprenticeship in 2021.

 

Henry is a High Voltage Electrician at GTS involved in the testing and maintenance of HV breakers, equipment and LV ACBs. Complementing these duties, he carries out mechanical fault finding on breakers and repairs.

Henry has a farming background in Africa which provided a solid training ground for a wide variety of electrical installations and maintenance.

In addition to his A-Grade Electrical Licence, Henry has numerous certificates and qualifications in working at heights, confined space, high risk work and first aid. He also holds a construction White Card and Maritime Security Identity Card.

His leisure interests include flying, water sports, motorcycle riding, camping, church and visiting family and friends.
 

Andrea Meads is our Accounts Receivable Officer and a key member of our accounts team. She admits to a fastidious, detail-oriented nature that’s well-suited to the job.

Andrea’s current position at GTS has little to do with her previous employment as Deputy Registrar of Law Courts in New Zealand, but there’s no doubt that the rigorous professional approach honed in the legal world is an asset to her role at GTS.

Outside working hours, Andrea describes herself as an avid sports fan as well as an amateur foodie who enjoys experimenting in the kitchen and visiting wineries to match the right wine to her culinary creations.

Nikki keeps our back office humming by creating and updating all the essential records relating to GTS jobs as our Services Administrator.

She is also responsible for maintaining CBH’s site pass system, organising medicals and training updates. Making travel arrangements for staff and contractors is another aspect of Nikki’s multi-faceted job.

Nikki’s professionalism was recognised with an Admin of the Year award in 2015.

Out of hours, Nikki loves going to the beach, walking her dog and socialising in cafes with friends. She’s a rugby fanatic who also loves to read, cook and look after her friends’ kids, providing she can hand them back.

As our Accounts Payable Officer at GTS, Salochna is a valuable member of our accounts team. Her role includes a wide range of duties from reconciling supplier statements to making weekly payment runs. She is also responsible for company insurances and fleet maintenance.

Salochna has a Diploma of Accounting and her previous experience includes payroll as well as general administrative duties. Her work ethic, head for figures and eye for detail make an important contribution to

GTS’s day-to-day business operations.

Out of hours, Salochna enjoys cooking, travel and socialising with friends.

David brings over 20 years of experience as a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Secretary to this role.

David has worked in both private and public companies, including helping one company become the best performing ASX200 stock in 2014.

He is highly organised and efficient, and with his sense of humour, fits into the GTS team well.

When he’s not working, David enjoys the three F’s – fishing, football and family. 

Gregorio is a High Voltage Technician at GTS. His responsibilities span a broad scope of electrical work in the areas of testing equipment and general maintenance including breaker testing, cable testing, megger testing, ductor testing and multimeter calibration.

Typical assignments include transformer maintenance and repairs, tap changer maintenance and repairs, and switchboard maintenance, repairs and commissioning.

Gregorio is known for his work ethic and friendly, can-do attitude. Having completed his electrical trades training in the Philippines, he has also undertaken a number of Worksafe courses in Western Australia.

After work, Gregorio enjoys spending as much time as possible with his family.
 

Syed joined GTS for a three month electrical engineering internship in February 2015 and has been a valued staff member ever since.

Hired to work in the area of earthing and lightning protection systems design and testing, Syed has been actively involved in the testing and commissioning of HV assets at various sites for several corporations during his tenure.

Syed was educated in the UK and completed a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Electrical Engineering at the University of Sheffield. He has continued his professional development at GTS with the completion of several workshops, training seminars, certifications and nationwide site inductions.

Originally from Pakistan, Syed is an avid cricket fan and enjoys playing and watching the sport on weekends. 
 

Schalk is a High Voltage Technician at the GTS Bunbury transformer branch. He carries out a range of specialised work for clients including transformer maintenance and repairs, tap changer maintenance and repairs, and switchboard maintenance, repairs and commissioning.

In addition to his trade qualifications as an A-grade electrician, Schalk has completed numerous training courses and certifications including forklift, elevated work platform, working at heights, crane operator, confined space, cable jointing and senior first aid.

He holds a White Card and Western Power Network Access Card.

Schalk is known as Schalk Swanepoel Jr to avoid confusion with his father Schalk Swanepoel Sr, who is also a member of the GTS team.

Outside work, Schalk enjoys family time and tinkering with cars and boats.
 

Schalk is our Bunbury Technical Supervisor responsible for overseeing siteworks.

Originally from South Africa, Schalk completed his apprenticeship as an electrician with AngloGold Mining where he worked on underground transformers and electrical distribution as well as fire and methane detection equipment.

Following 15 years in the mining industry in South Africa, Schalk migrated to Australia in 2008 and spent two years working for Thiess as a linesman before taking up a position with GTS.

After gaining experience doing hands-on electrical testing, he was promoted to the position of Technical Supervisor in the GTS transformer department and enjoys the varied challenges of the job.

Water sports, fishing and golf are Schalk’s favourite leisure activities.

Scarlett’s role involves developing, executing and reviewing testing and reporting protocols for quality control at GTS. Types of electrical testing include partial discharge, dielectric dissipation factor, insulation resistance, contact resistance and timing testing.

Scarlett completed a Bachelor of Engineering at Northeast Dianli University in Jinlin, China and a Master of Engineering Science at the University of New South Wales.

When in China, she gained valuable experience as an intern at Long Xiang Electrical Engineering Expertise Company and the Electric Power Research Institute in Habin, Heilongjiang, China.

In her spare time, Scarlett enjoys fishing, snorkelling, cooking, travel and badminton.

Duane qualified as an electrician in South Africa in 1987 and has held various roles through his career ranging from electrician to project management, planning and team leading. Duane has a wide range of capabilities and has worked with some of the largest companies in this industry.

He is a valued team member and brings with him hands on experience in substation maintenance and switching up to and including 132kV, testing and commissioning of switchgear, cable fault finding, thermographics, PD monitoring and much more.

Outside of work Duane is a fitness fanatic, preferring weight training at the gym and running/walking with a little bit of fishing to relax.

Cody has over 7 years’ experience in the electrical industry, and has worked on large projects for Chevron, Inpex, Rio Tinto and BHP to name a few. He is currently studying at university to extend his knowledge and achieve his degree in Engineering.

Outside of work, Cody likes catching up with friends and trying new restaurants. He enjoys lifting weights and going on nature hikes. He is currently enjoying watching documentaries, with particular interest in the formation of the universe and black holes.  One day he would like to live and work in another country. 

Lisa has been with GTS since 2010, joining the company after 12 years in the UK working within the travel, pet and auction industries. With her background in travel, Lisa embraced the mobilisation role. Lisa is quick to adapt and is our go-to person for any mobilisation or induction queries. Lisa is very good at what she does, and is also incredibly patient! Outside of work, Lisa enjoys sewing and knitting, along with camping and hiking with her young family. 

 

Byron joined GTS in 2018 as an electrical apprentice. Byron has a background in retail. He has completed high school and shows a strong desire to learn, and a keen interest in the electrical field. Outside of work, Byron enjoys staying fit through football. 

Dylan began his electrical apprenticeship with GTS in 2017. He is currently part of the transformer team in Bunbury and showing great determination and aptitude.

Outside of work Dylan is very active with motorbike enduro riding, wakeboarding or 4x4 driving. 
 

Nkweto’s background started in Asset Management and Packaging Engineering. He has good problem-solving skills and experience in change management, risk management and project work.

Nkweto also came to GTS through the internship program and his happy and respectful demeanour along with his thirst to learn more earned him a role within GTS.

Outside of work, Nkweto likes to spend time with family as well as watching movies, taking and editing videos, and travelling. 
 

Nik gained his Bachelor of Engineering in India in 2014 and moved to Australia to quench his thirst for knowledge with his Masters. Nik joined GTS through the internship program and was offered a role on completion.

Nik is currently working and learning across all technical facets of GTS, and increasing his skills and knowledge along the way. Nik also knows his way around a computer.

Outside of work, Nik likes playing on his play station, and spending time with friends and family. He also loves travelling and going to the  beach. 

Randy joined GTS in 2019 as an Electrical Engineering Technician. Prior to arriving in Australia, Randy was testing and commissioning in Saudi Arabia as a Lead Tech and a Commissioning Supervisor.

Randy has extensive experience working in Oil and Gas plants throughout Saudi Arabia, spending six years there. His career began in the Philippines, graduating in 1995. Randy is a polite and friendly person who always has a smile on his face.

Joel is a dual tradesman with over 20 years experience in the electrical and mechanical industries.

10 years of this has been working with transformers from 10KVA to 400MVA. Joel has a great appreciation and understanding of the interactions between mechanical, electrical and instrumental components.

Joel joined GTS in late 2020 and looks forward to expanding his career within the HV electrical industry. 
 

Said is yet another success from GTS’s internship program, staying on after completion as an Electrical Engineer.

Said has proven himself to be polite, friendly and keen to learn. Said earned his degree in Kenya in 2014 (since recognised in Australia) and begins his career in Australia with GTS.

Said loves spending time with his family when he is not at work. 
 

Karen began her career in retail and quickly moved up to management. She eventually moved into banking for a couple of years before beginning an administration role for a local Bunbury electrical company. Karen joined GTS in February of 2020 and settled in very quickly.

She is thorough and efficient, and a pleasure to work with. Karen likes to read (when she has time) and spending time with the family. 

Rodulfo's experience is a mix of various operations such as working as Site Administrator in an MEP Contracting Company in Abu Dhabi UAE.
He was exposed to business management after passing the Electronics Engineering Exam in the Philippines 2012.
 
Shifted career to more technical related roles as he progressed towards getting a higher degree in Perth Western Australia. After completing his Masters, Rodulfo was exposed to software development,  and landed a job in the field of Information Technology and now working as an Electronics Engineer in GTS.

In his spare time Rodulfo enjoys spending time with his family, driving around the city, church and self enhancement.
