Gideon is our GTS Bunbury Manager with responsibility for the Bunbury transformer branch, including 14 staff made up of 10 specialist technicians and four administrative staff.

GTS’s Bunbury transformer branch has a strong focus on transformer maintenance and repairs, and Gideon is successfully building our team’s transformer expertise and capacity to take on jobs of any size and complexity.

He takes pride in his ability to adapt to the constant changes in the power industry and being able to meet challenging deadlines on time, without incident.

Gideon has 30 years of experience as an electrician in the mining, utility services and power industry. He owned a transformer and electric motor maintenance and repair workshop for 12 years before joining a utility looking after the 132kV and 11 kV networks. For the past 10 years, he has worked in the power industry serving a vast client base in Western Australia.

After hours, Gideon enjoys spending time with his family, fishing and other outdoor pursuits.
 

Kerri is our HR Manager and chief people person at GTS, looking after HR issues such as recruitment and performance. She has been instrumental in developing policies and procedures for Quality certification. As one of GTS’s longest serving employees, she is also the go-to person for anything that requires a long corporate memory.

Kerri started with GTS over 10 years ago and her first desk was the boss’s dining table. Since then she has performed many different roles in the company from financial controller to delivering test gear to the airport.

Outside of work, Kerri is passionate about horses. She owns four horses, competes in dressage and is working towards becoming a dressage judge.

Guna is our Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Advisor and Management Representative for GTS. His Management Representative role is a mandatory requirement under the HSEQ Management System Standards and he fulfils a corporate advisory role in supporting key management at GTS to meet OHSE obligations and legal requirements.

Guna began his career as a telecommunications technician and his subsequent experience spans technical and management roles. Since migrating to Australia, he has worked in a variety of HSEQ positions in the construction, mining, and oil and gas industries.

Guna’s leisure interests include walking and keeping fit in the gym, reading, travel and volunteering in his local community.

Tina’s key responsibilities as our Financial Controller are to provide high level business and financial strategy advice to GTS management pertaining to budgets, cost control, job costings and statutory reporting to government bodies.

Tina supervises our financial staff and interns, imparting her skills to the next generation through training and professional development programs.

As a highly experienced management, financial and project accountant and qualified CPA, Tina has more than 25 years of experience working in diverse industries and environments. She has previously worked for BHP Billiton, ConocoPhillips, Woodside and Western Mining, as well as Western Australia Police and the Department of Industry and Resources.

Out of hours, Tina loves travelling, reading, spending time with family and friends and training her dogs. Her next challenge is to have her dogs accepted as hospital dogs so they can visit sick kids and adults.

As our Workshop Manager, Steve oversees all the jobs that come through the GTS Canning Vale workshop. He ensures the correct test equipment is sent to site on time for each job and is in charge of test equipment rental. 

His ability to get things done makes him the go-to man for many ad hoc projects such as building the mobile testing van.

Prior to joining GTS, Steve was Assistant Engineer at the Hyatt Regency Hotel Perth then ran his own business carrying out thermographic inspections for the commercial, mining, oil and gas sectors. GTS purchased the thermographics business in 2009.

During his leisure time, Steve enjoys reading, renovating and catching up with family and friends.

As one of our Senior Electrical Engineers, Ganesh is involved in high voltage testing such as condition monitoring and partial discharge testing throughout Australia and South East Asia. At the same time, he provides support for protection relay calibration and switchgear testing. Other responsibilities include training junior engineers, developing new test procedures, improving existing test procedures and oversight of reporting.

Alongside this work is a new role for Ganesh – Senior Technical Manager for GTS (Malaysia) Pty Ltd as the company establishes a presence in South East Asia.

Educated in the UK, Ganesh has 14 years of in-depth experience as an electrical test engineer for power utilities, the oil and gas industry, mining and heavy industry such as steel and cement plants.

In his leisure time, he enjoys reading and travel.
 

As our Electrical Supervisor based at our GTS Perth office, Lee is involved in nurturing client relationships, quoting and planning jobs.

Lee undertook his electrical apprenticeship in hydro generation. He has broad electrical trades experience as a field service technician as well as in a supervisory and managerial capacity. Prior to joining GTS, he was a self-employed HV specialist and he brings this wide-ranging experience to his role at GTS.

Described by colleagues as the ‘class clown’, Lee brings a sense of fun to the workplace balanced by a serious, professional approach to his work.

On weekends, Lee heads for the great outdoors, and lists cars, four-wheel driving and dirt bikes as his favourite leisure activities.

Michael’s role as Senior Engineer at GTS is to provide clients with individually tailored solutions by matching them with the GTS services and equipment that meet their specific needs. From costings and technical scopes to managing projects through to final outcomes, Michael is the essential link between clients and the considerable resources of GTS.

Michael has a strong background in engineering maintenance practices and testing techniques, having developed his skills in the commercial, steel, pharmaceutical and petrochemical industries in the UK and Australia.

His experience spans large projects such as the Sabic LDPE plant build through to small upgrade projects for Fine Organics. More recently, he delivered projects for substation upgrades at Alcoa and the power quality project at Roy Hill.

Michael enjoys keeping fit and regularly takes part in the annual City to Surf and HBF charity runs where he is constantly striving to improve on the previous year’s times.

As a Field Services Technician at GTS, Arthur plays a key role in the areas of high voltage testing and fault finding, HV maintenance, installation and commissioning.

In addition to his A-Grade Electrical Licence, Arthur has completed training in HV switching, thermographics and advanced first aid, and holds a White Card and Blue Card.
 
Arthur has over 30 years of experience in the electrical industry. While at GTS, he has been involved in projects for the Water Corporation, Solomon Mine, Rio Tinto, Pilbara Iron, BHP and CBH, and has worked on ships and oil rigs.
 
After hours, Arthur enjoys piloting small aircraft, fishing and target shooting.
 

Shane studied his trade and honed his skills in the Australian military and brings military precision to his job as Field Services Supervisor at GTS. The position entails overseeing onsite maintenance and testing.

On leaving the military, Shane gained broad experience in the mining industry. He worked at Joy Global before joining Reinhausen as a field service technician carrying out service repairs and inspections on load tap-changers throughout Australia and the South Pacific.

Shane is renowned for his strong work ethic and relentless focus on getting the job done right every time.

With a young family, Shane’s weekends are dedicated to family activities, especially outdoor pursuits such as four-wheel driving, going to the beach and playing in the mud with his kids.

Schalk is our Bunbury Technical Supervisor responsible for overseeing siteworks.

Originally from South Africa, Schalk completed his apprenticeship as an electrician with AngloGold Mining where he worked on underground transformers and electrical distribution as well as fire and methane detection equipment.

Following 15 years in the mining industry in South Africa, Schalk migrated to Australia in 2008 and spent two years working for Thiess as a linesman before taking up a position with GTS.

After gaining experience doing hands-on electrical testing, he was promoted to the position of Technical Supervisor in the GTS transformer department and enjoys the varied challenges of the job.

Water sports, fishing and golf are Schalk’s favourite leisure activities.

Frances is involved in testing and commissioning works on sites in the mining, and oil and gas sectors.

An important part of the role is liaison with each client to properly understand and address their needs and requirements before putting forward recommendations and quotations.

Prior to joining GTS, Frances accrued more than 10 years of international experience as an HV specialist at both the technical and management level including seven years in the mining industry working on testing and pre-commissioning.

Weekends are family time for Frances who enjoys spending time with his kids playing basketball, going camping and being involved in his local church.

Andrea Wang is a pivotal member of the GTS accounts team, with dual responsibilities as our Assistant Accountant and Payroll Officer.

Since joining GTS, Andrea has gained broad experience in her chosen field of accounting, having worked on accounts payable before switching to her current position.

Andrea has an international background and holds two Bachelor of Commerce degrees, one from China University of Mining and Technology where she majored in international trade and one from Curtin University in Perth where she majored in accounting and finance.

In her downtime, Andrea enjoys swimming, travel and watching movies.

Outside working hours, Andrea describes herself as an avid sports fan as well as an amateur foodie who enjoys experimenting in the kitchen and visiting wineries to match the right wine to her culinary creations.

Andrea Meads is our Accounts Receivable Officer and a key member of our accounts team. She admits to a fastidious, detail-oriented nature that’s well-suited to the job.

Andrea’s current position at GTS has little to do with her previous employment as Deputy Registrar of Law Courts in New Zealand, but there’s no doubt that the rigorous professional approach honed in the legal world is an asset to her role at GTS.

Outside working hours, Andrea describes herself as an avid sports fan as well as an amateur foodie who enjoys experimenting in the kitchen and visiting wineries to match the right wine to her culinary creations.

Nikki keeps our back office humming by creating and updating all the essential records relating to GTS jobs as our Services Administrator.

She is also responsible for maintaining CBH’s site pass system, organising medicals and training updates. Making travel arrangements for staff and contractors is another aspect of Nikki’s multi-faceted job.

Nikki’s professionalism was recognised with an Admin of the Year award in 2015.

Out of hours, Nikki loves going to the beach, walking her dog and socialising in cafes with friends. She’s a rugby fanatic who also loves to read, cook and look after her friends’ kids, providing she can hand them back.

‘Sparky’ by name, industry and attitude, Isabel Sparks is our Administration Officer and Job Coordinator based at our Bunbury office.

Isabel brings more than 30 years of experience to GTS, having worked in diverse industries and environments in South Africa, New Zealand and Australia and

Isabel is a highly proficient senior administrative officer and programmer, and her professionalism was recognised with an Admin of the Year award in 2014.

Isabel is a traveller and a foodie who loves to cook, eat out and learn about different cuisines and cultures. She enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, especially strolling along the beach and camping under the stars.

As our Accounts Payable Officer at GTS, Salochna is a valuable member of our accounts team. Her role includes a wide range of duties from reconciling supplier statements to making weekly payment runs. She is also responsible for company insurances and fleet maintenance.

Salochna has a Diploma of Accounting and her previous experience includes payroll as well as general administrative duties. Her work ethic, head for figures and eye for detail make an important contribution to

GTS’s day-to-day business operations.

Out of hours, Salochna enjoys cooking, travel and socialising with friends.

Gregorio is a High Voltage Technician at GTS. His responsibilities span a broad scope of electrical work in the areas of testing equipment and general maintenance including breaker testing, cable testing, megger testing, ductor testing and multimeter calibration.

Typical assignments include transformer maintenance and repairs, tap changer maintenance and repairs, and switchboard maintenance, repairs and commissioning.

Gregorio is known for his work ethic and friendly, can-do attitude. Having completed his electrical trades training in the Philippines, he has also undertaken a number of Worksafe courses in Western Australia.

After work, Gregorio enjoys spending as much time as possible with his family.
 

Scarlett’s role involves developing, executing and reviewing testing and reporting protocols for quality control at GTS. Types of electrical testing include partial discharge, dielectric dissipation factor, insulation resistance, contact resistance and timing testing.

Scarlett completed a Bachelor of Engineering at Northeast Dianli University in Jinlin, China and a Master of Engineering Science at the University of New South Wales.

When in China, she gained valuable experience as an intern at Long Xiang Electrical Engineering Expertise Company and the Electric Power Research Institute in Habin, Heilongjiang, China.

In her spare time, Scarlett enjoys fishing, snorkelling, cooking, travel and badminton.

As our Earthing & Lightning Protection Technician, David specialises in earthing and lightning protection. He is a versatile staff member who also fulfils a variety of additional roles from training others to quoting, running jobs, building relationships with clients, business development and assisting other skilled personnel.

Known around the office as someone who enjoys a joke, he is serious about upholding high professional standards on site.

Prior to joining GTS, UK-trained David had 14 years of experience specialising in earthing and lightning protection as well as installation, maintenance, testing and commissioning followed by over four years assisting technicians and engineers to carry out HV testing, commissioning and maintenance throughout Australia.

Outside work, David enjoys spending time with his family and four-wheel driving.

Daniel is a Field Electrical Engineer at GTS. He performs testing and maintenance on a range of HV equipment and protection relays, and is part of our team responsible for the quality control of GTS reporting to ensure continued excellent client service standards.

Daniel graduated from the University of Western Australia in 2012. Since joining GTS, he has continued to extend his experience of testing and commissioning in the field of power and protection systems.

He has also completed complementary skills courses in business, thermographic inspection and first aid.

In his spare time, Daniel enjoys watching movies, basketball, fishing and reading.
 

As a Field Electrical Engineer at GTS, Chhimi is involved in a range of testing, maintenance and engineering tasks.

He is currently undertaking further professional development in Certificate IV Project Management.

Chhimi has experience working in both Australia and Bhutan where he was employed for six years as an Electrical Engineer.

Chhimi likes to keep fit by jogging, exercising and swimming. He also enjoys cooking, reading and helping his kids with their studies.

Stephen is a High Voltage Technician at the GTS Bunbury transformer branch. His main duties include the testing and maintenance of transformers and he is also the health and safety representative for Bunbury.

Stephen has amassed a broad range of international experience in electrical work which has taken him across the globe and around Australia.

Having completed his electrical apprenticeship at a goldmine in South Africa, he spent 10 years working for a local council in the reticulation department. A few years ago, Stephen moved to Australia where he added to his experience and qualifications with positions in Townsville, Perth and Bunbury. He joined GTS in 2010.

On weekends, Stephen enjoys fishing and outdoor pursuits.
 

Henry is a High Voltage Electrician at GTS involved in the testing and maintenance of HV breakers, equipment and LV ACBs. Complementing these duties, he carries out mechanical fault finding on breakers and repairs.

Henry has a farming background in Africa which provided a solid training ground for a wide variety of electrical installations and maintenance.

In addition to his A-Grade Electrical Licence, Henry has numerous certificates and qualifications in working at heights, confined space, high risk work and first aid. He also holds a construction White Card and Maritime Security Identity Card.

His leisure interests include flying, water sports, motorcycle riding, camping, church and visiting family and friends.
 

Henry is an Electrical Engineer at GTS responsible for the testing and commissioning of all kinds of circuit breakers, transformers, relays, power cables, current transformers, voltage transformers and electrical devices. 

His work is divided between the GTS workshop and mine sites all over the country where he carries out preventative maintenance work.

Henry has international experience as an electrical technician and has previously worked in Saudi Arabia and the Philippines.

Outside of work, Henry enjoys spending quality time with his family and playing with his young son, hanging out with friends, watching movies and going fishing. 

Gary is a High Voltage Electrician at GTS whose responsibilities range from working with engineers on advanced electrical condition monitoring tests to supervising apprentices during electrical installations.

Gary joined GTS in 2012 as an Electrical Apprentice after working as a self-employed telecommunications technician for 10 years. The opportunity to make this career change enabled him to fulfil a long-held ambition to become a qualified electrician.

A team culture at GTS as well as the wealth of knowledge, skills and training on offer proved fertile ground for Gary’s new career and he is now paying it forward by mentoring new apprentices at GTS.

On weekends and holidays, Gary says there’s nothing better than loading up the four-wheel drive and setting off on a camping trip with the family. He looks forward to exploring the Kimberley region and one day doing a lap of Australia.

Anthony is an Electrical Field Technician at our Bunbury transformer branch and has several years of experience in the high voltage transformer industry to his credit.

To complement his skills as an A-grade electrician, Anthony has undertaken dogman training and completed courses in working at heights, elevated work platform, confined space, forklift and cable jointing. He holds a Blue Card and Heavy Rigid Licence.

Anthony believes that if a job is worth doing it’s worth doing well – a philosophy he says is a good fit with the culture at GTS.

Out of hours, he enjoys all kinds of outdoor activities, going to the gym, gardening and family time.
 

Jordan is a High Voltage Technician based at our Bunbury transformer branch. His main role is to carry out transformer maintenance, new installations and a range of transformer tests.

After leaving school and working for a time as a hospital orderly, Jordan joined GTS where he was offered the opportunity to complete an electrical apprenticeship. Four years on, he is now a qualified electrician.

In addition to his A-grade electrical trade qualification, Jordan has undergone training in forklift, dogging, tree felling, elevated work platform, working at heights, confined space and senior first aid.

After hours, Jordan is drawn to the great outdoors, with interests that include fishing, camping, golf, travel, watching sport and time with family and friends.
 

Schalk is a High Voltage Technician at the GTS Bunbury transformer branch. He carries out a range of specialised work for clients including transformer maintenance and repairs, tap changer maintenance and repairs, and switchboard maintenance, repairs and commissioning.

In addition to his trade qualifications as an A-grade electrician, Schalk has completed numerous training courses and certifications including forklift, elevated work platform, working at heights, crane operator, confined space, cable jointing and senior first aid.

He holds a White Card and Western Power Network Access Card.

Schalk is known as Schalk Swanepoel Jr to avoid confusion with his father Schalk Swanepoel Sr, who is also a member of the GTS team.

Outside work, Schalk enjoys family time and tinkering with cars and boats.
 

Patrick is our Plant Operator and Oil Truck Driver at the GTS Bunbury transformer branch.

Maintaining transformer oil quality is an essential aspect of any preventative transformer maintenance program and Pat plays a key role in operating our oil plant and oil purification facilities.
 
Pat has completed training in forklift, crane operator, working at heights and first aid, and also holds a White Card and Western Power Network Access Card.

In his downtime, he enjoys working on projects in his shed. He describes himself as “an outdoors kind of person” who likes camping, sailing, four-wheel driving and “buying gadgets on eBay”.
 

Angus is an Electrical Apprentice at GTS. Prior to starting his apprenticeship with the company, Angus demonstrated his flexibility in a range of different roles.

In the mining industry, he worked as an earthworks labourer, elevated work platform operator and sentry. He has also been a forklift operator, traffic controller and youth worker.

Angus has completed qualifications in working at heights, confined space, basic scaffolder, forklift and emergency response, and holds a construction Blue Card. Rounding out these technical skills, a certificate in indigenous mentoring reflects his desire to help others.

As a family man, Angus likes to spend weekends with his wife, children and extended family. He can often be found cheering his daughters on the netball court or watching AFL.
 

Syed joined GTS for a three month electrical engineering internship in February 2015 and has been a valued staff member ever since.

Hired to work in the area of earthing and lightning protection systems design and testing, Syed has been actively involved in the testing and commissioning of HV assets at various sites for several corporations during his tenure.

Syed was educated in the UK and completed a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Electrical Engineering at the University of Sheffield. He has continued his professional development at GTS with the completion of several workshops, training seminars, certifications and nationwide site inductions.

Originally from Pakistan, Syed is an avid cricket fan and enjoys playing and watching the sport on weekends. 
 

Kyle is an Electrical Apprentice at our transformer branch in Bunbury. He was offered an apprenticeship with GTS after doing work experience with the company in 2015.

On leaving school, Kyle tried his hand at roofing and carpentry for a time before completing a pre-apprenticeship certificate in electrotechnology at Bunbury TAFE and finding his calling. As part of his TAFE course, he undertook a work placement with GTS – and the rest is history.

Originally from Narrogin, Kyle regularly travels back to his home town on weekends to see his mum. Outside of work, he enjoys helping his brothers with home maintenance jobs as well as travelling down south, swimming, fishing and riding motorbikes.
